That Old Suspension Giving You Headaches?
Fas-Trac III Hard Hat Suspension Promo #1
During my time in the safety products industry, many improvements were developed for tried & true equipment to keep users out of harm’s way. One such product was the Fas-Trac III suspension for V-Gard hats & caps.
I was asked to create an entertaining short that could be marketed on our social media platforms to announce the introduction of the new product. Being a huge fan of the animation stylings of Terry Gilliam from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, I jumped at the chance to mimic the look & feel to not only inform our customers, but give them a quick laugh in the process.
What’s Everybody Raving About?
Fas-Trac III Hard Hat Suspension Promo #2
Building upon my first promotion piece for the Fas-Trac III I created a more involved animated short. At the time it was also the 50th anniversary of the creation of the V-Gard hard hat. Produced in every color of the rainbow I thought it was only fitting to have a rave inviting all the hats to celebrate.
Using 3D planes, puppet pins, & virtual cameras in Adobe After Effects & was able to create a techno dance sequence for the hats & a special guest appearance by the Fas-Trac III suspension itself to close out the number. This let me indulge in my love of animation, but also my love of puppetry as I captured the tapping movements of the hats using my recorded hand gestures in real time.
PrimaX IR Gas Detector
General Operations Demonstration
Industries such as offshore drilling, chemical & petrochemical manufacturers, & utility services such as water and sewage all rely on instruments to keep their work force safe on the jobsite. The PrimaX IR is a fixed combustible gas detector suitable for both indoor & outdoor locations that use dual infrared beams to monitor, detect & alert users to potentially dangerous levels of combustible gas.
This quick animation shows how the infrared beams detect these gases using a HART detector to read the lowest concentration of gas vapor that will burn in air commonly called the lower explosive limit (LEL). This simple animation not only shows how it detects combustible gas, but also how the redundant system continues to work if something as small as an insect blocks one of the beams.
XCell Sensor
Pulse Technology Demonstration
Instruments that alert us of harmful environmental pollutants are essential lifesaving tools to keep people safe, especially those who work in industrial settings. Gas sensors are the engines inside these devices that allow them to communicate with us, but how do they work?
In this demonstration I’ve animated the basic internal workings of an XCell sensor to show how gas, electrolyte, & catalyst work in harmony in order to alert a user when dangerous particulates are present. It also shows how to recalibrate the device by simply exhaling into the sensor preparing it for further use.
Concept Cloudburst
Having our devices communicate with each other is something most of us take for granted, but in the safety products industry it could mean life or death to those who keep our infrastructures running at a seamless pace. In this conceptual animation I show how multiple gas detection instruments communicate with a rugged Sonim phone to keep users protected while on a jobsite.
This demonstration depicts a typical industrial workplace setting with one user utilizing a handheld gas instrument & a Sonim phone. Also shown is another worker located at a base station & a permanent combustion detector hanging on a wall inside the facility. Various scenarios are played out to illustrate how each device works in unison to alert workers of potential harm or to communicate an order to evacuate the area.
